Geotechnical (Soils) Reports
Soil reports are often required by Municipal entities for projects ranging from additions to new buildings. These reports are also often required by architects and structural engineers to provide necessary design values.
Costs for conducting geotechnical investigations can vary substantially, but are typically based upon:
By knowing this information, we can determine the geologic setting of the project site so that we can prepare a proposal for a proper geotechnical investigation. This initial phase of geotechnical work typically culminates in a written report which is provided to the project design team (architect, structural engineer, civil engineer, etc.) to prepare the plans.
Once the plans have been prepared, most municipalities will require that the geotechnical engineer review the plans (plan review), and then come to the site to observe and document the relevant aspects of construction. These obserations are then summarized in a final construction report notifying the owner and municipality that the work was properly performed.
